Celebrating Warihi (Wally) Campbell's 70ieth

In March 2012 an International Symposium on Therapy was held to honour the more than 30 years of work by Warihi (Wally) Campbell, QSO, as a family therapist, community development and pastoral care worker. Presenters travelled from two continents to honour Wally and his work by making presentations on their own specialist areas.

The international presenters were: Carol Halliwell – Consultant Family Therapist, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services, London, Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic in London; Jill Freedman, Director Evasnston Family Therapy Centre, Chicago; Linda Kuwatani – Counsellor and Psychotherapist, Member of Bay Area Partnerships for Social Justice, San Francisco. Also presenting were Taimalieutu Kiwi Tamasese, Co-ordinator Pacific Section, The Family Centre; nd Charles Waldegrave, Co-ordinator Pakeha Section, the Family Centre; Dr Catherine Love, National Manager, Ahikaa Entrepreneurship New Zealand; and Dr Ruth Gammon, Clinic Director and Senior Lecturer, Psychology Clinic, Massey Wellington School of Psychology.

Along with the symposium at the Little Theatre in Lower Hutt, was a display of artworks by Maori, Pasific and Pakeha artists which spoke to the social issues faced in New Zealand over the last thirty years. Art was shown by Robyn Kahukiwa, Momoe Malietoa von Reiche, Claudia Pond Eyley, So'otaga Toifau, Filipe Tohi, Solomon Daniel and Herbert Bartley. The art show was funded by the Hutt City Council.

A celebratory evening was also held in the Lower Hutt horticultural hall just prior to the symposium, to celebrate Wally's 70ieth birthday.

Below are the presentations which have been made available for download by some of the presenters at the International Symposium:
