The Family Centre is part of Anglican Social Services (Hutt Valley, Inc.). It operates independently with its own Trust Board and a base in the Hutt community of greater Wellington.
The Family Centre engages in four distinct areas of work, social policy research, family therapy, community development, and education and training. We have often found that it is in training that knowledge and experience from all three combine.
A recent review of the work of the Social Policy Research Unit (SPRU) concluded that in addition to the quality of its research capabilities, these were "...enhanced by its strong community and cultural links, its grounding in issues of great concern and the development of social policy in New Zealand and its good record of accomplishing goals on target.” To read more: Independent Review of SPRU Research
